Tell me about Daddy (altered canvas)

Tell me about Daddy

Something Daddy always says to you?
You’re a silly goose.

What makes Daddy happy?
Cleaning my room.

What makes Daddy sad?
Not listening to him.

How does your Daddy make you laugh?
Tickling me.

How old is Daddy?
1500.

How tall is Daddy?
Taller than my Mom.

What is Daddy’s favorite thing to do?
Go swimming with me.

What does Daddy do when you are at school?
Go to work.

What is Daddy really good at?
Carrying me and holding me.

What does Daddy do at his job?
Fix people and give them food so that they’ll be alive for a long time. He helps kids too.

What is Daddy’s favorite food?
Macaroni and cheese with ham.

What do you and Daddy do together?
Go swimming together when it’s summer. If it’s winter we go and play at the snow, but only if it’s snowing.

How are you and Daddy the same?
We’re weird, but only I’m weirder because I like chips on pizza.

How do you know that Daddy loves you?
Because both of us have a heart and I have two bloods in me. One is his blood and one is Mom’s.

Gaines Family 1974

Gaines Family 1974

**Updated: Turns out this was 1973. Will correct the layout but not repost.**

Here is a photo from 1974, or so I am guessing. When my Mom arrives I can check the year, but I am guessing I look like a two year old. What do you think of my hair, lol. I am the blondie with the wild hair in my light green jammies.

And Audra's hair is super long. The majority of her curl must have come a little later because she has the curliest hair of anybody I know, and you just don't see too much curl in these pictures.

Love these blue and orange papers. As soon as I saw them I knew I would be scrapping some 70's pictures with them!

I used the Citrus Grove kit by Summer Simmons at SuggarGiggles for the papers and elements. The staples are from Shabby Princess. The stamped title is from the Metro Crackle Alpha and the frame is from the ‘frame it brushes’ both by Jackie Eckles at DesignerDigitals.

New York Times

The New York Times has a couple of articles about digital scrapbooking today.

The once humble hobby of scrapbooking moves on

Showing off your handiwork

It's funny how when I paper scrapped I couldn't remember a designer or company name of a product for my life. But as a digi scraper I not only know designer names, I can recognize their work, I know a bit about who they are, and I know their personal scrapping style.

All a part of my obsession with digi scrapping I guess.

Sisters Always Walk Together

Sisters Always Walk Together.

Another layout of Rachel walking in hard sole shoes for the first time. Of course, part of the problem was that she wanted to pick up every rock that she passed as well. And seeing as how she was walking on a pea gravel walkway, it would have taken forever if her big sister hadn’t been there to help her.

Papers are from the Westfield pack by S.Jones and also used to cover the title and the brush work which is by Ronna Farrer. The stitched ribbon is from the snippets collection at DDE.

Summertime Rolls

Summertime Rolls:

My favorite Jane’s Addiction song has always been ‘summertime rolls’. So when I saw this photo, my thoughts were already on summer and then I saw her rolls, and I just couldn’t resist.

Journaling: "6/3/2006 Rachel, we have lots of love for your little legs."

Papers are from Neopolitan Summer (TheDigiChick). Red patterned paper, ric rac and stitches are from MandaBeans Blossom Blast kit (Sweet Shoppe), the felt corners are from the Snippets collection (DigitalDesginEssentials), the arrow is from Kristy Ann Designs (Holly McCaig), the fonts are taran’s doodle and M.A.’s kulot (DDE). Oh, and the swirls are from Ronna Farrer. I think that is everything.

Walk With Me

Walk with Me: Elizabeth and Rachel 6.3.2006

Until this weekend, Rachel had only worn Robeez (soft moc. style sole). But now she has her first pair of hard sole shoes, her summer sandals. I took this photo of Elizabeth and Rachel taking her first walk in her new sandals. (She just happened to be stopping to check out the rocks, oh how she loves rocks.)

Brown paper is from Neopolitan Summer (Amber Clegg), green papers are from IOD, circle brush (recovered in IOD) is from ScrapArtist, messy stitches are from Katie Pertiet, foam stamp action on title from Atomic Cupcake. Sequins are from tandika. I also used a sepia filter on the photo.

Easter Finery

Easter Finery: The Gaines Kids

Aimee, Alissa, Audra, Curtis & Kevin. Phoenix, Arizona. 1982. (I'm not sure about the year, I will have to double check prior to printing.)

This is one of our traditional Easter photos that we took every year on Easter Sunday. Every year at Easter time our church was fund raising for missionary programs, and every year we donated the bulk of our Easter dress money towards our mission programs. But we still had nice outfits to wear, and always a hat.

Neopolitan Summer papers by Amber Clegg at The Digi Chick. Metro Alpha by Jackie Eckles recovered in N.S. paper. Inked edges from Atomic Cupcake. Swirls by Ronna Farrer (2peas).

Backyard Beauty

Backyard Beauty.

“Footsteps crunching on gravel. The smell of campfire in the air. Dinner grilled to perfection. Life in our backyard is wonderful.”
