Adios!

My last post for a while.

I will not only be away from here, but away from a computer. Major withdrawals.

I can feel the pain already...

Ok, I'll be back in a couple of weeks!

The Story

This is the cover page for my Mom and Dad's slideshow at their retirement party. I love the background paper by Ztampf, it is so pretty. In fact, I love every piece of paper that came in that paper pack. they are all just beautiful.

It was fun to do a layout with photos from two different time periods and I'm happy with how it turned out.

Ztampf: background paper from Artia paper pack. Maya: ribbon. Jen Wilson: frame and metal flowers. Anna Aspnes: journaling circle. Katie Pertiet: aged alpha.

Nerd Ratio

I had fun with the pirate personality and name game, so I decided I had better find out how much of a nerd I am as well.

Here is my rating:

91% scored higher (more nerdy), and 9% scored lower (less nerdy).
What does this mean?
Your nerdiness is:Definitely not nerdy, you are probably cool.
Despite my high potential of being a nerd due to my computer/digi scrapping addiction, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I might be cool. LOL
What's yours? Find out by clicking here.

My Sister Audra

This layout is about the birth of my older sister. She was a cutie. And I'm not just saying that because my Rachel looked so much like her at birth! LOL

Ztampf: background paper from Artia. Postcard, stitching, frames from Cloud9. Michelle Coleman: floral paper. Sausan Designs: pressed flowers. IOD: photo corner. Jackie Eckles: metro stamped alpha. Jan Crowley: fabric flower, recolored.

Pirate Day!!!

How funny is this? September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day!

Ok, I am a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, but is this taking it too far? LOL I don't know, but I did the quiz anyway to find out what my pirate name would be, lol...

Bloody Bess Vane

And this describes my pirate personality:

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

To check out your own pirate name and personality click here.

I thought I'd go check out a few more links...

This one does not give me a personality, but only a name: Captain Bess Flint.

This one gives me the name: the Evil Mermaid Elizabeth (LOL)

Sisters at Last

Elizabeth was so excited when she found out she was going to be a big sister. She really hoped (and even prayed) that the baby would be a girl. She even had a name picked out for her: Mermaid. For obvious reasons we chose another name though, lol.

Journaling:
You wished for years and waited patiently for nine months then finally you became sisters at last.

Art Party Invitation

I actually just finished this up. The more I look at it, the more I like it. But, of course, the version I'm looking at doesn't have web censors on it, lol.

So this is collage style, and I think I like it. It was very fun and I may just have to do a few layouts like this too.

Toddlerhood

As a toddler Rachel discovers new things every day. Sometimes she learns from these discoveries, and sometimes they just make her more curious.

Ad Challenge

This weeks Two Peas challenge was to create a layout inspired by an advertisement. Most of the gals did these beautiful layouts based on very sophisticated and graphic magazine advertisements.

Me? I chose Noggin. LOL.

Little Buggy

“Rachel loves her little buggy. When she wants to move she throws her body forward to make herself go. Riding up and down the street in her little buggy is a great way to spend the afternoon.

7 months old, January 2006.”

Untitled

At six years old Elizabeth still can’t eat without getting food all over her face. She has always been this way, and I’m beginning to worry she may always be this way, lol.

Elizabeth’s di.rty face is a sign of a very full tummy. August 2006.

The papers, staples, stitches, red & blue ribbon and the star are from the Scrap Artist All American kit. The green ric rac (recolored) is by Kim Christensen. The paper/ glitter flowers are by Meredith Fenwick. The wordy chip and leather string are by Jen Wilson. The stamped ‘smootzy alpha’ is by Nancie Rowe Janitz.

Baseball

Check it out, it’s a boy page!

And it was fun to create too! This is my nephew, he calls me ‘the great snuggler’ and I love him to pieces.

The only thing missing is a photo of his face... maybe I'll add it later, or maybe I'll just leave it as is. Hmmm.

Paper, baseball and airplane by Maya at Scrapbook Graphics. Notebook paper, cardboard, index card, clip and star by Miss Mint. Tag by Katie Pertiet. Stitching brush by Jen Wilson. Staples are by Kathryn Balint. ‘American Way’ word art by Michelle Coleman.

Another Feel Good Day

I was just invited to be a guest creative team member for Corina Nielsen Designs, or as Corina likes to call them, her 'band camp members', lol.

I, of course, agreed without hesitation. Her designs are very fun and you can find them here at the Digi Shoppe. I will be guesting for the month of November, and I am really looking forward to it.

Fun, fun!

Sugary Fun

Sweet Lolly

Elizabeth; 8.2006.

Loved this somewhat blurry photo of Elizabeth playing with a lollypop from Disneyland and just had to scrap it. It was a discovery of something forgotten (it’s been a while since we were at Disneyland, lol).

Background papers by Tracey Gilbert Monette (Clever Monkey Graphics). Overlay and digital distressing brushes by Nancie Rowe Janitz. Lined paper by Mo Jackson. Fringe template by Kristy Ann Designs, covered in Wicked Garden paper by IOD. Staples also by IOD. Ric Rac by Kim Christensen. Flower by Gina Miller. Card by Jen Wilson. Stamped alpha by Jackie Eckles. And I think that is everything.

Slurpee

So this one isn't my usual style, but it was still fun to create!

Slurpee

My cutie patootie, Elizabeth, last year when she was 5 years old… And let me clarify that we don’t eat at 7-11, she only called it a restaurant because she was 5, lol!

“Can I have a slurpee at that restaurant with the big 7? Please Mom, can I?”

All papers and flowers (cut out, but also available in brush) from Tracey Gilbert Monette’s (Clever Monkey Graphics) new kit Fall Petals at PDW. Staple from her Negative Alpha.

Frames by Jackie Eckles. Stamped alpha by Michelle Coleman. Font is crack babies.

You're a Nut!

Hazel’s Nut House

They have a little house full of hazel nuts at one of our local pumpkin patches (think ball pit), and this photo is of Elizabeth posing in front of it. But, I took out the kids inside and placed a photo of Elizabeth and her Grandma talking. Journaling reads:

“Who’s a nut?
Grandma always calls you a nut, but it seems to me that the nut never falls far from the tree!”

Credits:
Tracey Gilbert Monette (Clever Monkey Graphics) at PDW: brown striped paper from Fanciful Horses kit, brown cardstock and straight stitching from her Blueberry kit, and hazelnut paper also from her, but not available at this time. And the date stamp!
Jen Wilson: Zany wordy chip, leather strings.
Meredith Fenwick: paint strokes and paper bag glitter flower. Sausan Designs: pressed flower. Maya: tickets. Ztampf: circle stitching. Michele Coleman: staples. Miss Mint: cardboard. Michelle Underwood: envelope.

First Day of School

After playing all last week, trying to make the last bit of summer fun, we were off to school today. First grade. Wow.

She worried about it all day yesterday, and now I find myself worrying about her today. I know she'll be fine though, she had several people she already knew in her class, both from Kindergarten, pre-school and soccer. Whew!

Even though it is supposed to be in the 80's today, she insisted on wearing her new long sleeve t-shirt in the color of orange. She picked it out herself, and I think it's cool that she likes orange. I have really come to appreciate that color over the last year or so, and I'm glad she likes it too.

Here are the photos, in which I think she looks adorable! (and I'm not at all biased, lol)

My Teenager Pants layout was picked as layout of the day at The Digi Chick! Woo hoo!!!

Check it out here: The Digi Chick
