Slowing Down

I'm slowing down for a while. We are in the midst of preparing to move which means that my life is crazy. And it will be crazy for a while, so I'm going to be slowing down with my scrapping, but I will be back now and then when I just HAVE to scrap, lol.

So sleepyheaded today

This week I am tired. My two year old has been waking up at 4am every day and trying to play. My older daughter did this too when she was this age, and all I can say is I hope this phase passes quickly. Oi.

We did have a great week of sunshine here in Oregon which was wonderful. The weather was so nice in fact, that we were wearing shorts on Sunday. And of course it is now raining again, lol. I certainly don't mind the rain, and in fact I even enjoy it. But I like it when it doesn't rain every day. I like it when it rains, maybe two days a week. That is perfect. My kids are always happier when they get outdoor time... but that is probably true for most kids, lol.

Here are my most recent pages; as always, click on the titles for credits and journaling.

Hmmm

I hate coming up with titles for blog entries. Why is it I can come up with a page title, but not a blog entry title? Of course I guess my titles aren't all that creative, but still they are better then 'hmmm'.

Product alert: Have you seen these new paper cuts from Sausan Designs? They are so cool and yet delicate and pretty. I've used them on my New Sisters page below and I think they finish the page perfectly.

And how about these beautiful flowers by Jofia Designs? I bought 'em but haven't used them yet. I think I should put that on my 'to do' list for today!

Valentines Day... This year, my 8 yo daughter wrote a letter to a boy in her class and signed it 'from your secret emirer', LOL. I scanned it before she gave it to him so I can do a page about crushes and include her secret love letter. :) Nothing is sacred in my house!
Which reminds me of a cute story.
There has been this boy on her bus that has been driving my daughter crazy for almost 2 years. He is in the third grade and she is in the second grade. She calls him her 'arch enemy' because he is always 'bullying' her (aka bothering, lol). We keep telling her that he probably only bugs her because he likes her, because that is what boys do at that age.
Well, a few weeks ago, just as she was getting off the bus she paused next to his seat. She turned to him, and with all his friends watching, said "I know you like me." Then she turned and exited the bus. (She has great timing, don't you think?)
This poor boy didn't ride the bus for two weeks after that, LOL. He was still at school, he just didn't take the bus (wonder what he told his parents that had to drive him instead, lol). Finally, one day at school he walked over to her and said, "You're right, I do like you" and rushed down the hallway.
Well, he has admitted his crush, but she still thinks of him as a bully and her arch enemy, lol. And I love my daughter to pieces, she totally cracks me up.
I hope you all have a wonderful valentines day and holiday weekend!
And I have just a few pages to share. Click on the titles for credits/journaling.

Check out my new favorite kit...

I have to show you the cutest kit, it's called Arbot by Jackie Eckles, I love it to pieces! I used it for a Disneyland page, and I think I can use it again just for fun even though I have only girls. It's cool. Check it out here at Little Dreamer. (See my page below.)

I have had a sick family for the past week. I almost always get sick too but for some odd reason I am the only one that didn't get sick. Woo hoo! LOL. Actually, cleaning up after sick kids isn't really a reason to go 'woo hoo', LOL.

Okay, I've heard rumor that the writer's strike is over, but until I see major headlines verifying that is the case I'm not sure I want to get my hopes up. Anyway, it's probably too late to add many new shows before the season is over anyway. But, if you are not a subscriber to Showtime, you are in for a treat. You have to check out Dexter, it is scheduled to air on CBS the week of Valentines, and they plan to show the entire first season. It's a crime procedual with a major twist, and it will of course be cleaned up for regular television, but I don't think that will ruin it at all. In fact, even though I've seen it on Showtime, I plan to watch it again.

I'm boring, I know. Talking about sick kids, television, and now we're on to movies.

Have you guys seen the trailer for The Other Boleyn Girl yet? I am so excited, I cannot wait to see it. I already have a girlfriend date and a 'you have to be home to watch the kids' mandate to my husband so I can go, LOL. It will be so much fun! Here's the trailer if you want to check it out, click here. It's obvious from the trailer that they have made some changes from the book, but it still looks like it will be pretty terrific.

Well, anyway, I have a few pages, click on the title for credits/journaling.

Back to my regular inconsistent postings!

Well, it takes me a while to get back into the swing of things after vacation, but I think I'm getting back to my regular schedule now. So yes, that means I'll blog, then forget for two weeks, then blog again, LOL. No, hopefully I'll be a better blogger this year, although I wouldn't say that was a goal I'm working on, just something that would be nice. ;)

During the first week back at school my 2nd grader was scheduled to be 'star student' for the week. Which means, she got to bring things from home and tell her class about them and her hobbies, etc. She was so excited, so I offered to make her a poster with a bunch of photos so that her poster would count as one item instead of bringing 5 photos that count as 5 items, always gotta be thinking about those things you know, lol. She liked that idea, and I really wanted it to be special for her so that she could really feel like a 'star'. So I made this poster for her and she thought it was the coolest, and her class mates thought she was so lucky because she had a real poster, with her on it that was all about her, lol. I made it 12x18 and printed it at Costco.

I used: Nancy Comelab, Amy Hutchinson, Two Sisters, Ana Aspnes, Christina Renee, Michelle Coleman, Amy Martin and Jackie Eckles. I think that is it...

So apparently, if the (we switched subjects to TV now, lol) writer's strike continues much longer, CBS is going to run some SHOtime series rather than repeat old material and give us even more reality and game shows (of which I am not a fan). I personally think this is a great idea! The first show that they will air is Dexter, which is one of my favorites. It's a forensic show with a twist; the main character is a blood splatter specialist who also just happens to be a serial killer. I think even with cleaning it up for regular television, it will be worth watching. Heck, I'll probably even watch it again even though I've seen the original.

And let me just say that after watching the first season, I didn't know how they could come up with a second season that would be as good. The did. Love this show!

Okay, on to scrapbooking...

Photo Traditions and Merry Christmas!

Do you have any specific holiday photos that you take every year? I always take a photo of my girls holding Christmas tree ornaments up to their ears like earrings. It started quite by accident one year while we were decorating the tree, and it was so cute that I made sure that we repeated that photo every year. Now we can't decorate the tree with out our annual earring photo. What about you?

I also try to always take a photo of the kids in front of the tree before opening gifts on Christmas morning. Last year it wasn't too successful though (see previous post) and I'm hopeful that this year I will get my photos. Hopeful, but I'm willing to take whatever I can get, LOL. My little Rachel is quite demanding, and I have a feeling we will have a few tears throughout Christmas morning. Why? Because we do not do a 'free for all' type of gift opening. We open them slowly, taking turns so we can see what the other person is getting too. I fear this will be just too much for my 2-year old, lol. Oh well, it will make for a fun page!

And here are my most recent pages:

In case you are wondering what's up with the nontraditional page shapes... I have noticed lots of paper scrappers scrapping 6x12 layouts. I thought this was a great idea so that I can print some pages at Costco without wasting space :) It's kind of fun to do something different as well.

I also want to wish each of you a happy and safe holiday! Merry Christmas!

I'll see you in about 2 weeks, have a fun winter vacation!

A few holiday pages

We just moved our 2 1/2 year old into a big-girl-bed. Her response was that it was 'broken', lol. Poor baby :) It took about an hour to get her to go to sleep and I'm thinking that my timing is actually pretty good. How is that? Well, now that all our television shows are gone due to the writer's strike, I have lots of time to shoo her back to bed, LOL.

Uh oh, I hear the closet door opening. Time for me to go be mean I guess...

Okay, I am back, and here are a few winter pages that I recently completed.

I'm back, again...

Here I am, playing catch up once again. This time it's because I have been so very sick for a while, since Thanksgiving actually. I just keep getting knocked back down, but I think I have finally beaten it after two rounds of antibiotics. Uck, I hate being sick.

Today, for the first time in weeks, I'm actually feeling pretty great. And my family will definitely benefit, because I am actually cooking tonight. We have been living on my husbands cooking, take-out or simple dishes like... pancakes, LOL. Finally we will be getting back to our regular routine.

In fact, I was feeling so good that we even decorated cookies today. Boy, nothing is much more fun or messier than watching a two-year old go at a bunch of sugar cookies with frosting and candy toppings, LOL. I haven't downloaded my photos yet, so I can't share... maybe next time.

Here are a couple of layouts of my sweet girls. Have a great day everybody!

All about the products today...

Today is all about the products! I was going to chatter about life but I'm really more in a scrapbooking mood since I neglected to scrap all weekend (and it was a four day weekend for us). So on to the scrap items that are floating around my brain and hard drive!

If you haven't heard about the blind date contest, you really should mosey on over to the Sausan Designs blog to hear about it. You only have this week to enter... I won't give you the details, but the contest is fun and the kit even better (and on sale only this week)!

And I'm totally loving Tracey Monette's new paper pack, Colour Outside the Lines. I think I will do a monochromatic page using each of these papers because I was quite happy with the way this one came out. See here for credits.

I don't usually buy paper packs, but I have bought a few lately that I haven't yet used, but am dying to do so.

Old Brick House by Jenna Desai.

And Landscape ART Paperie No. 1. by Anna Aspnes.

Okay I have to admit, I cringed when I saw a Christmas layout in the gallery on November 1st. I actually cringed, LOL. It's too soon!!! But two weeks later I am beginning to get in the mood and I'm also starting to see some cute Christmas products in the stores.

Well let me ask you, is there anyone that doesn't love a brush by Michelle Coleman? She has a new snowflake brush that is (I feel like a geek whenever I say it, but here it comes) awesome.

And speaking of awesome, are you guys watching Chuck on Monday nights? It has quickly become my favorite show, I love it. And I love it when they call the sister's boyfriend Captain Awesome, LOL.

Okay, back to scrapping...

And check out these snowflakes by Jackie Eckles and these ones by Leora Sanford. I love a good snowflake... can you tell?

Well, I know there are ton more Christmas products out there, and a ton more will appear within the next few weeks. It will be crazy trying choose which to buy, LOL. So good luck with that!

In the meantime, I think I will get started on some pages using snowflakes! Have a great day!
