School of Hard Knocks

We like to learn things the hard way in our house.

Take Saturday for example, Elizabeth (9 years old) learned that she shouldn't be rude to people just because they are younger than her.  And Rachel (4 years old) learned that it's not okay to punch someone and give them a bloody nose just because they don't say they are sorry.

Ah, the lessons we learn while we are young.

First Day of School

Yesterday was the first day of school, and very exciting it was. The night before, Elizabeth couldn't sleep, as is usual for her personality. She is a worrier, and she was so excited... all I can say is I went to sleep at midnight and she was still awake in her bed. Poor girl was exhausted by the time she arrived home from school on the next day.


But she had a great day, she loves her teacher and one of the kids on our street is in her class, which is a good thing. Of course, I'm sure she wishes it was the girl on our street as opposed to the boy, lol, but oh well.

And Rachel had her first day of Pre-Kindergarten. Oh, she has been waiting all summer for this and has been so excited.  She did great, of course. No problem leaving mom, and no problems with mom leaving her. Although she was a bit snuggly in the afternoon, but overall she loved it.

The first day for her was 'getting acquainted and learning the rules' day.  Here is how she described it.

Mom: Rachel, what did you do today?

Rachel: We sang songs, read books and played outside. And we had cheese!

Mom: Did you learn any rules?

Rachel: Yes! No peeing and no hitting.

Yes, those are good rules, I suppose, lol.

Then she said she gave her teachers her straight face.  What's your straight face, I had to ask. So she showed me:

Yes, that's a very straight face. LOL

Is she a warrior cat or a person? She thinks she's a warrior cat.

I go in to give Rachel a kiss and she sticks out her tongue to lick me.

Me: Uh, what are you doing?
Her: We're warrior cats, and that's how cats kiss.
Me: Hmm, well when you're a person again, then you can kiss me. Okay?

Yeah, I don't like to be licked and I don't care if it is a sweet little four year old girl that I made.

I've changed my mind

I'm glad I didn't delete this blog, because I've decided to come back here. Yes, I reserve the right to change my mind at any time, lol.

Here's the scoop. I've decided to begin designing scrapbooking materials for the digital scrapbooker. And what better name to call myself than 'pick a paper' right?  So I decided I better come back to the pick a paper blog, and here I am.

Do you remember why I called this blog pick a paper to begin with?  Elizabeth was pre-school age I believe, and she came into my room in the middle of the night.

E: Mom, I had a bad dream.
M: Pick a paper.
E: Mom, I had a bad dream.
M: Pick a paper.

Silence.

E: (a little louder) Mom, I had a bad dream!
M:(also a little louder) Pick a paper. PICK A PAPER!
E: What?
Dad: Come here Elizabeth...

So, yes, I was new to digital scrapbooking and I loved it so much I was even dreaming about it, yelling at my little girl to pick a paper already and get on with it, lol.

Summer Break

Well, life is flying by right now at the speed of light. Which is why I am taking a break from everything until we're back in school this autumn.

Rachel

My three year old is a wild and crazy little girl. She rolls around in the dirt, eats dog food and climbs everything. She is a ball of energy and a breath of fresh air at the same time (when she doesn't have dog food breath that is, lol). One minute she's giving hugs and kisses and then the next she's saying, " Huhhh! Fine!" just proving once again she has attitude. And I love every bit and piece of her sweet little personality.

the Dinosaur Zoo

We went to the zoo this weekend and where they were having a dinosaur exhibit. Many of the dinosaurs were life sized and most of them moved and made sounds. The kids loved it. Well, Rachel liked it until one spit on her. LOL Yes, a dinosaur spit on her. Actually, it spit on all of us, but from that moment on she was quite wary of the dinosaurs. We had a great day though.

This of course means that I will be focusing on dinosaur pages over the next few weeks. :)

Oh, I've had a rather uninspired week; only a couple pages completed. Click on the titles for credits/journaling. But I actually scrapped two pages today, in an amazing burst of creativity, lol. I'll have those up either later this week.

Now I have to say two things. One is that Jackie Eckles has created the cutest summer kit. It was one of the kits that inspired me to scrap two pages today. You must check it out at Little Dreamer, it is really fun.






















And the second is that We Are Storytellers is stealing all my money! They are driving me crazy with all these wonderful kits that I just have to have but don't have time to scrap with, lol. And their most recent collabs include free gifts with purchase... qp albums that work with the Maya Road albums. I am having an argument with myself as to whether or not I should buy them... I'll let you know who wins. Lately it hasn't been little miss thrifty that's winning these arguments, lol.
